Cop held in relation to armed robbery of Portland businesswoman

A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is to be questioned by detectives in Portland in connection with the armed robbery of a businesswoman in Manchioneal, Portland on Monday morning.

Initial reports are that at about 4:00 a.m., the businesswoman left her bar in Manchioneal after hosting a round robin event.

Minutes later when she arrived at her home, she was reportedly pounced upon by three gunmen.

The woman and the other occupants of her car were physically assaulted, and the assailants fled the scene with over $700,000 in cash, which they stole from the businesswoman.

A probe into the incident led to the arrest of a man who was subsequently identified as a member of the police force.

A manhunt is under way for the other suspects in relation to the robbery.
