Cop dies in Westmoreland car crash

A district constable died after he lost control of the motor vehicle he was driving and crashed into a utility pole along the Paradise main road in Westmoreland on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Monir Maden of Greater Portmore, St Catherine.

Police reports are that sometime after 1am, Maden was driving his Toyota motorcar towards Ferris, when he lost control of the vehicle.

The car then crashed into a utility pole, which resulted in the district constable receiving multiple injuries.

He was assisted to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police investigations are ongoing into the incident.
