A police constable has been found guilty of illegally possession of firearm and is to be sentenced on Thursday.
He has been identified as Sadiki Heslop. Heslop and another man, identified as Leighton Shirley, were found guilty when they appeared before the court a few days ago.
Reports are that police officers from the St Andrew South Division were conducting an early morning operation last August in the Maxfield Avenue area when they stopped a black Range Rover with four occupants.
Police said they were about to carry out a search of the vehicle when the constable identified himself to the officers without being asked.
The constable declared that he was in possession of a firearm, which when checked was discovered to be illegal.
The policeman and another man in the vehicle, identified as Shirley, were subsequently taken into custody and charged.
