Cop among two being interviewed about 500-pound ganja bust

The police are interviewing two men, including one of their colleagues who has been on suspension, in connection with the seizure of a large quantity of ganja in Westmoreland on Tuesday night.

Reports are that about 9:45 p.m. during an operation by members of the Police Narcotics Division, a pick-up and a car were intercepted in the Big Bridge area of Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.

During a search of the two vehicles, compressed ganja weighing over 500 pounds, along with a quantity of loose ganja, were found in the vehicles.

Two men, one of whom turned out to be a lawman, were taken into custody, and the drugs and the two vehicles were seized.

Further investigations are being carried out by the narcotics police.
