CONSTABLE OR CROOK? Lawman reportedly linked to two stolen cars
Investigators from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) arrested a district constable assigned to the Catherine South Police Division in connection with two stolen motorcars on Wednesday, July 18.
Reports are that about 2:30 p.m., the driver of a Nissan Tiida motorcar was stopped on the East West toll highway in St Catherine. The vehicle he was driving was examined and it was discovered that it had been stolen.
Further checks revealed that the driver had allegedly bought the car from the now arrested district constable.
The constable was summoned by the investigators to a police station in the division, where the Tiida motorcar and its driver were taken.
The district constable reportedly arrived at the station in a Toyota Axio motorcar, which was checked by the investigators, and was found to have been stolen in Westmoreland.
The district constable was consequently taken into custody.
The Inspectorate of Constabulary (IOC) and the St Catherine South police are investigating the developments.
More information will follow on the investigation.
