Church Corner in St Thomas also placed under COVID-19 quarantine

The Government has announced that the community of Church Corner in St Thomas has been placed under quarantine after 28 cases were detected there within less than a week. ...

The quarantine is for a period of 14 days, effective Thursday, August 6.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement of the imposition of the quarantine measure while speaking at a COVID-19 press conference at Jamaica House where he also announced that 30 new cases of COVID-19 within the last 24 hours have pushed the country’s total number of confirmed cases to 958.

Health and Wellness Minister, Dr Christopher Tufton, indicate the name of the community when he addresses the press conference.

The St Thomas community joins Sandy Bay in Clarendon, which was placed under a two-week quarantine, also effective August 6, following a spike in COVID-19 cases in that community, which has been linked to a church there.
