CHRISTMAS IN JAIL: Teacher now on 6 sex charges involving students
A St Elizabeth teacher who was recently arrested for sexual offences involving students has been slapped with additional charges.
The accused, 24-year-old Lionel Tracey, has been charged with three more counts of having sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16, making for a total of six such charges. He had initially been charged with three counts when he first appeared in the St Elizabeth Parish Court on November 25.
And Tracey's legal woes could further increase, as investigators on Monday informed the court in which the accused reappeared, that the educator is being investigated for other sex crimes involving minors.
As a result, Tracey will have to spend Christmas in jail, as he was further remanded in police custody by the presiding judge.
He is to return to court on January 27, 2020.
It is alleged that investigators from the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) received complaints that the teacher had sexually assaulted students at the institution where he was employed.
Following an initial probe, the educator was taken into police custody, and was later slapped with the first three charges.
