Jamaica and West Indies batting star Chris Gayle will be looking for plenty of sixes on debut for Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) team Rangpur Riders against Comilla Victorians on Saturday.

Gayle will certainly have plenty to prove following the recent snub at the hands of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which saw the left-hander, the record runs scorer for the T20 format, suffer the humiliation of going undrafted.

Rangpur, however, have stood by Gayle with the club’s CEO Ishtiaq Sadek declaring that the batsman was still the king of T20 cricket.  The West Indian will be hoping to justify the vote of confidence.

“Most time I go out to bat my objective is to entertain the fans. They have spent money and want to be entertained. Sometimes I get into trouble for trying to hit too many sixes. When it comes off, it is brilliant and everyone is happy,” Gayle said.

The 38-year-old will renew a partnership with another big-hitter New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum.  The two last opened together in the 2009 IPL, for Kolkata Knight Riders and Gayle expects the reunion to be fireworks.

“We know how destructive Brendon McCullum is. It is a privilege to open the batting with him again. We opened together way back in the IPL. Now we are joining forces together again. It is new for both of us to come in and go for a blast but we have experience. The expectation is high on us to deliver. We want to try our best and win the game tomorrow,” Gayle further said.
