Charlemont, Petersfield hunt Ben Francis KO title today
The second senior title of the 2018 schoolboy football season will be up for grabs on Friday as Petersfield High and Charlemont High will contest the final of the restructured ISSA Ben Francis knockout competition.
The match will take place at the Juici Field Complex in Clarendon, beginning at 3:00 pm.
The Ben Francis Cup has gone through a major change as the teams that finished third and fourth in the four respective daCosta Cup quarter-final groups got the chance to contest the competition. In former years, the top four daCosta Cup teams contest for the title.
The schools earned the right to face off in the championship match and also to play for their first title in schoolboy football following two rounds of matches.
On their way to the final, Peterfield High whipped St James High 4-0 in the quarter-finals on November 7 at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay and then turned back Port Antonio 3-0 in the semi-finals at the Juici Field Complex on November 15.
Charlemont High also secured a big victory in the quarterfinals by beating Maggotty High 4-0 at Dinthill Technical but edged 2016 champions Lennon High 1-0 in the semi-finals at the Juici Field Complex.
Hydel High won the first senior football title of the season by defeating Excelsior 2-0 in the final of the Walker Cup knockout competition on November 14 at Stadium East.
