Central Kingston aim to heap more misery on Santos in Super League
Central Kingston FC will be looking to extend their dominance over Santos FC, when both continue their long-standing rivalry in the Magnum KSAFA Super League on Friday at Constant Spring Complex, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The game is the first of a Zone B double-header, which closes off with an 8:30 p.m. clash between Rockfort FC and Brown’s Town FC.
Brown’s Town lie second in the group on 16 points and are certain to play in the quarter-finals, which will comprise the top four teams from both zones. Rockfort currently occupy fourth spot on five points, but they are under pressure as Mountain View also have five points, but an inferior goal difference.
Santos occupy bottom place in the six-team group on two points, after losing five of their seven matches. To make matters worse, they will be playing against the form team and group leaders, Central Kingston, which have won six consecutive matches and are hell-bent on claiming number seven against Santos.
“Looking forward to the next game, that is Santos. It’s been 18 years now that Santos don’t beat Central (Kingston) in anything, so it’ll be the same treatment,” said Vincent ‘Bigga’ Watson, head coach of Central Kingston.'
Watson also pointed out that their team will be stronger as “this time we have two players who were out on injury and card, they’ll be coming back the next game”.
Also, Central Kingston will look to the extremely talented Ronaldo Henry, plus Akeem Robotham, Karim Brown and captain Donovan Alvaranga, to topple their rivals.
In their first round meeting, Robotham and Brown netted goals to hand Central Kingston and 2-1 win.
Shane Sewell scored Santos’ lone goal in that contest and he will be looking to repeat that feat on Friday.
Other key players in the Santos line-up are Oneeko Allen, Tremaine Simpson, Sherton McPherson and Jeffrey Grant and despite the odds stacked against them, they will be looking to turn the tables on Central Kingston, which beat Mountain View last weekend.
