Carreras to pay out dividend valued at $970 million in June

Carreras Limited will pay-out an interim dividend valued at $970 million next month, slightly less than it did in the previous year.

It is one of the first companies to pay a dividend since the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which has affected economic activity.

The ex-dividend date is June 5, which means investors seeking to benefit from the dividend need to buy on the prior day.

The company, which sells cigarettes, will pay $0.20 per unit compared to $0.21 a year ago. There are 4.85 billion units.

The board of directors on May 21, declared an interim dividend of $0.20 per stock unit to be paid out of accumulated profits on June 25, to stockholders as shown on the register of members as at June 8.

Last year, Carreras paid $0.87 in total dividends or $4.2 billion, arising from four dividend payments.
