Carreras leads gains on JSE after news of stock split

Carreras Limited (CAR) led gains on Wednesday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE). (CAR) gained 15.87 per cent to close at $107.18.
Fueling the rise is news that CAR will consider a stock split at the upcoming annual general meeting on September 6th.
ISP Finance Services Limited (ISP) also gained 15.13 per cent to close at $18.42. The day’s top loser went to Key Insurance Company Limited (KEY) down 20.78 per cent to close at $3.05.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 1,522.66 points to close at 259,275.62. The JSE Index advanced by 1,724.45 points to close at 244,726.40. The Junior Market Index declined by 6.26 points to close at 3,149.20. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 17.40 points to close at 201.17.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 59 stocks of which 27 advanced, 24 declined and 8 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 10,169,675 units valued at over $92,081,186.45. JMMB Group Limited 7.50% was the volume leader with 3,950,000 units followed by Jamaica Producers Group Ltd. with 2,153,273 units and Medical Disposables & Supplies Limited with 1,023,000 units.
