Carib Cement, SOS led gains during Wednesday’s trading
Carib Cement Company (CCC) and Stationery & Office Supplies (SOS) led gains on Wednesday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
Carib Cement gained 16 per cent to close at $49.15 with 9,130 units trading followed by SOS up 12.7 per cent to close at $8.54 with 41,830 units.
Also on the day Barita Investments Limited (BIL) gained 11 per cent to close at $31.33.
The day’s top declining stock was Lasco Financial down 20 per cent to $3.96 with 107,280 units.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 301.22 points (0.08 per cent) to close at 397,215.74. The JSE Index advanced by 46.57 points (0.01 per cent) to close at 394,548.30. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 51.12 points (0.01 per cent) to close at 433,039.87. The JSE Select Index declined by 80.67 points (0.78 per cent) to close at 10,307.01. The Junior Market Index declined by 31.26 points ( 0.98 per cent) to close at 3,165.76. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 1.11 points (0.67 per cent) to close at 167.36.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 50 stocks of which 20 advanced, 24 declined and 6 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 9,884,938 units valued at over $103,933,145.66. General Accident was the volume leader with 1,588,279 units (16.07per cent) followed by Honey Bun (1982) LIMITED with 1,282,416 units (12.97per cent) and Victoria Mutual Investments with 1,246,476 units (12.61 per cent).
