Cargo Handlers up 8% to lead gains on JSE

Cargo Handlers Limited (CHL) led gains in Friday's trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).

CHL gained 8.1 per cent to close at $12. It was followed by Jamaica Producers Group which gained 3.6 per cent to close at $15.94.

Lasco Distributors led declines, down 8.2 per cent to close at $5.46.

The JSE Combined Index declined by 2,246.20 points (0.76 per cent) to close at 292,059.78. The JSE Index declined by 1,849.84 points ( 0.65 per cent) to close at 282,114.05. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 2,030.31 points ( 0.65 per cent) to close at 309,636.69. 

The JSE Select Index declined by 53.25 points ( 0.62 per cent) to close at 8,586.00. The Junior Market Index declined by 50.10 points ( 1.65 per cent) to close at 2,994.40. The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 9.06 points ( 5.11 per cent) to close at 168.15.


Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 45 stocks of which 11 advanced, 23 declined and 11 traded firm.

Market volume amounted to 11,480,189 units valued at over $344 million. PanJam Investment Limited was the volume leader with 4,370,132 units (38.07 per cent) followed by Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited with 3,011,732 units (26.23 per cent) and Supreme Ventures Limited with 1,109,526 units (9.66 per cent) .
