Canadian reportedly held with cocaine at Sangster airport
Members of the Police Narcotics Division arrested a male Canadian national after the seizure of approximately five pounds of cocaine at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James on Thursday, August 30.
Reports from the Narcotics Police are that about 12:30 p.m., the Canadian arrived at the airport and was in the process of checking in to board a departing flight to Toronto, when he was interviewed and his luggage searched.
During the search, a number of packages containing cocaine weighing approximately five pounds, with an estimated street value of $3 million, reportedly were found.
The drug was seized and the Canadian arrested on reasonable suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
His identity is being withheld pending an interview in the presence of his attorney.
