The High Commission of Canada to Jamaica is inviting community and not-for-profit organisations to submit proposals for the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).

Special consideration this year will be given to proposals responding to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each year, the High Commission of Canada partners with local organisations to fund small-scale-big-impact initiatives that make a difference to communities across Jamaica.

The Government of Canada is making available more than $10 million under the 2020-21 Call for Proposals to fund projects that align with at least one of the following Canada Fund thematic priorities:

  • gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls
  • peace and security, with a focus on conflict prevention and building peace
  • environment and climate action

In addition to these thematic priorities, organisations are invited to propose projects that focus on improving Jamaica’s ability to respond to the impacts of COVID-19 at the community level.

This ‘special edition’ of the Canada Fund complements Canada’s regional assistance, which serves to support our Caribbean partners on the front lines who are working to prevent, detect and respond to COVID-19.

Canada continues to take a leadership role in the international efforts to address the ongoing pandemic by providing urgent and necessary funding, including to support those who are most vulnerable.

Organisations can submit proposals to the High Commission until June 12, 2020.
