The Universal Service Fund (USF) has advised that its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Suzette (Camille) Buchanan, has demitted office.

The USF said Buchanan’s last day at the helm of the organisation was Friday August 17.

In making the announcement, Chairman of the fund, Mr Robert Lawrence, said the board thanked Buchanan for her service to the organisation and wishes her the best in her future endeavours.

Lawrence added that the agency will continue the execution of its projects as outlined in its Strategic Plan (for) 2018-2021.

The financial controller of the USF is to act as CEO in the interim, until a suitable replacement is found following a recruitment exercise.

Buchanan joins a line of individuals who have recently departed from some entities relative to the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET), which was headed by Dr Andrew Wheatley before a number of scandalous issues recently arose, that put the Government under some amount of public pressure. The departures have included Dr Wheatley, some board chairmen and members, and a number of CEOs.

Buchanan’s situation emanated from her having hired her daughter in a part-time but extended job at the USF, which has been viewed as bad judgment on her part.
