Bus conductor gunned down in Spanish Town
A bus conductor was killed Tuesday morning in Spanish Town, St Catherine in a shooting incident that left two others injured.
The Constabulary Communication Unit (CCU), the information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, confirmed the shooting.
“Three persons were shot with one fatality during an incident at the intersection of King Street and Burke Road at about 8:30 am today,” a representative of the CCU told Loop News reporter Claude Mills.
Some bus route operators, who have long complained about acts of extortion, reportedly pulled their services in protest. The conductor reportedly operated on the Bayside to Spanish Town route and the operators pulled their service in solidarity to protest his death.
Efforts to contact head of the Jamaica Association of Transport Owners and Operators, JATOO, Louis Barton, proved futile.
