Burnt remains of businessman found in Clarendon; foul play suspected
Clarendon is tense following the discovery of the burnt remains of a business operator in the parish.
Loop News understands that the deceased male is a Chinese national. Police are yet to release the man's name.
Reports are that about 6am, the burnt remains of the man was found at his business establishment located in the Guinep Tree area of the parish. His cause of death was not immediately known, but police insiders say foul play is suspected.
The discovery has triggered shock and a high level of fear among residents, especially members of the business community, in the parish that is under a state of emergency.
Guinep Tree was in late May the scene of a dramatic shootout between police officers and gunmen with high powered weapons who had earlier pulled off a brazen daylight robbery at a supermarket in the area.
In another disturbing incident in Clarendon, criminals last month pulled off a daring robbery of a motor vehicle under the guise of being part of the state of emergency law enforcement team in the parish. That incident occurred in the Ludlow district.
