British High Commission hosts reception for Chevening Scholars

The British High Commission of Jamaica recently hosted a send-off reception for the departing 2017-2018 recipients of the Chevening Scholarship.

Recently appointed British High Commissioner to Jamaica, Asif Ahmad encouraged the scholars to be good ambassadors for Jamaica and the Chevening brand.

Also in attendance was the Minister of Education Senator Ruel Reid who expressed the Jamaican government's appreciation of the Chevening scholarship and urged the students to promote brand Jamaica while studying in the UK.

Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential who also have strong academic backgrounds. The scholarship offers full financial support for future leaders to study for any eligible master’s degree at any UK university whilst gaining access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural events.

The 2017-18 Chevening scholars are Craig Dixon, Andre Hewitt, Rayon Mclean, Jovan Johnson, Dervin Osbourne, Alaina Young, Shannen Suckra, Melisa Anderson, Shari-Ann Palmer, Warren Williams, Tiffany Stewart, Shannee Mckenzie, Rayon Duncan-Devon, Kellesia Ebanks and Sasha Dixon.
