Commercial activities along a section of Barnett Street in Montego Bay, St James came to a standstill Tuesday afternoon following a bomb threat at a gas station in the area.

Reports are that about noon, the police received a call alleging that a bomb was on the premises of the gas station.

Members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, the St James police and the Jamaica Defence Force responded to the call, cordoned off the area and searched the premises.

In the process, the entire area was evacuated, including businesses in close proximity to the gas station.

The search was called off about three hours later after no explosive device was found.
