Sprint legend Usain Bolt, who recently donated half the approximately J$1 million it took to build a home for St Catherine resident Sean Sutherland, has expressed that he is “beyond humbled” by the experience.

Bolt’s US$3,800 contribution was matched by charity organisation, Food For The Poor (FFP). The retired track and field star even took time out on Thursday to assist with the construction of the two-bedroom house in the inner-city community of Ellerslie Pen, Spanish Town.

Sutherland, who plies his wares on the Spanish Town bypass near the FFP headquarters at Ellerslie Pen, lost his home in a fire in July and appealed to FFP for help.

Real estate company RE/MAX Elite, also assisted with the project.

Sutherland, a father of two who celebrated his 39th birthday on Monday and who lost everything in the July blaze, has expressed his gratitude for the home.
