Bloody row leaves uncle dead, nephew hospitalised with chop wounds

A squabble between an uncle and a nephew of his in Newlands, Portmore, St Catherine on Thursday resulted in one being shot dead by the other, and one hospitalised with serious injuries.

The deceased man has been identified as Delroy Neufville of Newlands in Portmore.

His reported killer, his nephew, remains hospitalised with chop wounds he received during the bloody family row.

Reports are that sometime after 3:00 p.m., a heated argument developed between the two male relatives, which later escalated into a violent clash when Neufville is said to have used a machete to inflict chop wounds to sections of his nephew's upper body.

Reportedly in retaliation, an illegal firearm was said to have been used by the nephew to shoot his uncle.

The police, who were on patrol in the area, assisted the two wounded men to hospital, where Neufville died, while his nephew was admitted for treatment.

The Portmore police are continuing their probe into the incident.
