Ashley Ann Foster resigns from PNP to take up media role

Attorney Ashley Ann Foster has resigned from the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP).
The move came on Monday in a letter to PNP General Secretary, Julian Robinson.
In the correspondence, Foster said the resignation was as a result of her taking up a position as host of a news and current affairs programme on CVM Television.
She said her move was in reflection of an ethical decision to withdraw her membership from the party in pursuit of transparency and fair play in her media engagement.
The letter was copied to party Chairman, Robert Pickersgill, and other members of the PNP’s officer corps.
Foster chaired the PNP’s Central St James constituency organisation. She lost to the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Heroy Clarke in her bid for the seat in the February 2016 General Elections.
Foster also served as campaign spokesperson for the Audrey Smith Facey team in the candidate’s recent, unsuccessful bid to replace Portia Simpson Miller as the party’s standard bearer in South West St Andrew.
