Apprentice Christopher Mamdeen boots home four-timer at Caymanas Park
Leading apprentice Christopher Mamdeen on Wednesday served notice on leading rider, six-time former champion jockey, Omar Walker by booting home a four-timer, including a hat-trick to close the 10-race card.
Mamdeen's four-timer moved him to 21 winners, cutting Walker's lead to three atop the jockeys' standings after the former champion started the day on 23 wins and scored his lone victory aboard STRANGER DANGER.
Mamdeen opened the 10-race programme with 1-2 favourite, PHENOM, before landing a hat-trick - back-to-back outsiders, LADY IN THE ARENA and KEY WITNESS, at odds of 11-1 and 12-1, respectively, followed by JUST TRICK ME at 5-2.
Champion jockey Anthony Thomas was also among the winners with a three-timer, including back-to-back winners, COURT CALL (5-1) and LUANA (5-2), in the second and third events, closing his tally with 3-5 favourite AURELIA'S SUMMER.
Meanwhile, champion trainer Wayne DaCosta's United States-bred gelding, STRANGER DANGER, maintained his unbeaten run, effortlessly chalking up a fifth straight win in the day's open allowance event at a mile, clocking 1:38.0.
