Anthony Davis was flattered to receive praise from Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, but insists his primary focus is on the New Orleans Pelicans.

It was reported last week that the Lakers have been saving their assets and are considering attempting to deal for Davis.

Speaking to ESPN, James said of the possibility of playing with Davis: "That would be amazing, like, duh. That would be incredible."

Davis has two seasons remaining on the five-year, $145million extension he signed in June 2015.

But, while welcoming James' praise, Davis wants to focus on improving the fortunes of the 15-17 Pelicans.

"I don't really care," Davis told ESPN. "Obviously, it's cool to hear any high-calibre player say they want to play with me.

"But my job is to turn this team around. If we're 15-17, that means I'm not doing my job.

"When that time comes, of course we will see. I love my team-mates. I love New Orleans. I love the fans. I talk their slang. I love their food."
