Another Vigorous for St Catherine Cup

ANOTHER VIGOROUS and old rival NUCLEAR FLIGHT are the top two rated runners in Saturday’s St Catherine Cup at five and a half furlongs, the fifth meeting between the two since last August after twice beating each other.

The distance, however, will suit ANOTHER VIGOROUS, who has had the advantage over NUCLEAR FLIGHT on the round course, twice losing to the filly at five furlongs straight.

In addition, he has twice won after losing to her in November whereas she is making her first outing since, confirming that she has issues and remains difficult to train in the mornings.

ANOTHER VIGOROUS is going for a second straight win among open allowance following a strong victory in the seven-furlong Gladiator Trophy on December 29, beating ANOTHER BULLET and imported HILLY’S HALO into third place.

Carrying 117lb with Dane Nelson aboard, ANOTHER VIGOROUS pounced on HILLY’S HALO and MR UNIVERSE entering the straight and stayed on well to beat late-closing ANOTHER BULLET, who returns too heavy, topweight 126lb, with Barbadian Simon Husbands.

Though NUCLEAR FLIGHT will have only 110lb, she has a habit of breaking slowly and could have Anthony Nunes’ EXHILARATE to keep her busy on the lead.

ANOTHER VIGOROUS should have no problem tracking the pace and taking over in the stretch where he should prove strongest coming off the home turn.

The St Catherine Cup is set to run off at 4:40 p.m. as the ninth of 10 races scheduled. First post is noon.
