Another Bullet takes open allowance sprint; Nuclear Flight pulls up
ANOTHER BULLET seized the advantage after NUCLEAR FLIGHT broke down a half-furlong out, while clear on the lead, in Wednesday's open allowance sprint, closing fast to outfinish ADONIS and PEKING CRUZ at five and a half furlongs.
Making her way home after racing clear a furlong out, NUCLEAR FLIGHT almost went down under Dane Dawkins, bumping into the rail before being quickly hauled up by Dawkins, who had put her to the lead from the start.
Meanwhile, apprentice Tevin Foster moved up to joint fifth in the jockeys' standings being led by Omar Walker on 20 wins, booting home a three-timer to join five-time former champion jockey, Trevor Simpson, on 12 winners.
Foster made all with 7-2 chance CONCUR, the first of two winners for trainer Steven Todd, safely fending off CLEARLY OURS and DOUBLE DEAL in the fourth.
He returned in the next race with 6-1 shot, SWEETIE GIRL, closing inside the last furlong of the fifth at five furlongs straight, before scoring with 3-5 favourite SIR JHUNJHUN WALA in the seventh at six and a half furlongs.
Todd was the afternoon's top trainer, closing a two-timer with FIFTY CENTS, who took over from AURELIA'S SUMMER to land the ninth event at seven furlongs.
Racing continues at Caymanas Park on Saturday.
