Another American child drowns at prominent resort in Runaway Bay
Within a span of only three weeks, two young American children have died reportedly by drowning at a single resort in St Ann.
The latest incident took place on Thursday at the very prominent property in Runaway Bay.
Reports are that the child, who was from New York, was at the pool with family members when tragedy struck.
The details as to what took place are still not clear, but information from the Runaway Bay police are that about 3:30 p.m., the child and his mother were swimming in the pool. Shortly after he was found in an unresponsive state in the water.
He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In an almost identical scenario, an eight-year-old boy died at the same property in mid-June.
The child, who was from Philadelphia, was identified as Antoine Bookard.
Reports from the Constabulary Communication Unit (CCU) said the child was with family members at the hotel’s pool.
Again it was unclear what happened after, but the police said the child was subsequently found in an unresponsive state.
He was also taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The two incidents followed a number of other tragedies that have taken place at the property dating back to its establishment.
