AMG Packaging led gains during Tuesday’s trading
AMG Packaging and Paper (AMG) led gains during Monday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
AMG gained 9.5 per cent to close at $2.43 followed by Sterling Investments up 8.1 per cent to close at US$0.04.
AMG released financials last week which reported that profit for both the quarter and nine-months increased year over year, but not the earnings per share (EPS).
Over the quarter, EPS was flat at $0.03 in the quarter over $0.03 a year before; and $0.07 over nine-months compared to $0.08 a year before. Investors placed a premium on the rise in profits despite the flat EPS.
Leading declines was Jetcon down 12 per cent to close at $1.64.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 2,885.80 points (0.60 per cent) to close at 480,526.37 while the JSE Index declined by 2,821.86 points (0.58 per cent) to close at 486,998.17. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 3,105.25 points (0.58 per cent) to close at 534,818.03 and the JSE Select Index declined by 12.27 points (0.10 per cent) to close at 12,452.29.
The JSE Cross Listed Index closed at 100.08. The Junior Market Index declined by 26.77 points ( 0.88 per cent) to close at 3,013.40. The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 1.51 points (0.79 per cent) to close at 188.45. The JSE Financial Index declined by 0.85 points (0.64 per cent) to close at 131.46.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 66 stocks of which 22 advanced, 34 declined and 10 traded firm. Market volume amounted to 110,360,858 units valued at over $2,487,149,040.90. Supreme Ventures Limited was the volume leader with 93,843,191 units (85.03per cent) followed by Wigton Windfarm with 10,325,876 units (9.36per cent) and Lasco Distributors with 1,051,138 units (0.95 per cent).
