Created : 20 March 2020
The St James police who are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of an American woman whose body was discovered in a hotel room she was occupying in Montego Bay in the parish on Wednesday, have ruled out foul play.
The dead woman has been identified as 39-year-old Kimberly McCarthy.
Reports are that the body was discovered by workers at RIU Montego Bay when they went to clean the room.
The resort reported that as a result of a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign that remained in place on the door to the American women's room throughout Monday and Tuesday, the request was followed.
But on Wednesday, when workers eventually went into the room, they discovered the body lying motionless on the bed.
The police were subsequently summoned.
Investigators are relying on an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
