Alliance to launch prepaid MasterCard

Alliance Payment Services Limited, in partnership with MasterCard will launch Jamaica’s first prepaid card aimed at financial inclusion.

The new financial product is for individuals in Jamaica who are seeking access to mobile payment platforms through the use of a prepaid card. This new product, the Alliance Prepaid MasterCard, will be available at all Alliance MoneyGram locations and will not require individuals to sign up through a banking institution.

As a part of the Alliance Prepaid MasterCard launch on May 3, Alliance will welcome Minister of Finance and the Public Sector Dr. Nigel Clarke, to address guests at a private unveiling of the new prepaid MasterCard.

The Alliance Prepaid MasterCard is expected to unlock a host of financial solutions for individuals. This includes access to services such as: securing funds (i.e. no need to carry cash); mobile bill payment; swipe at any point of sale; transfer between cards

Persons using Alliance MoneyGram remittance services will also be able to load their remittances to the card when they visit a participating location.
