A man who reportedly stole a motorcar and abducted a woman in the process, was shot dead by the police after he allegedly pulled a firearm at the cops upon being confronted.

The incident occurred last Friday.

A .44 magnum firearm with three live cartridges was reportedly seized during the incident.

The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Jason Pinnock of Edge Hill road in the parish capital, St Ann’s Bay.

The events started to unfold last Thursday night when Pinnock allegedly stole a Black Toyota Wish motorcar in the community of Lime Hall, and also abducted a female at gunpoint.

However, the woman was later released unharmed.

Further reports are that the following day, at about 4:35 p.m., the police received intelligence that the stolen car was seen in the Steer Town community.

The car was later intercepted by the police along the Roaring River main road, where the driver was signalled to stop.

Pinnock, who was behind the wheels, allegedly disobeyed the instruction, and instead pulled a firearm at the police.

The lawmen reportedly took evasive action and then shot him.

He was taken to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Further investigations are ongoing into the matter.
