The ninth annual staging of the Everyone’s A Winner/Running Events 5K & 10K is set for Sunday at the Hope Botanical Gardens.

Runners, of all ages and visual capabilities, will converge at Palm Drive, Hope Gardens for the race, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 am.

Race participants will vie for the top finishing spots while engaging in competitive comradeship to raise funds and awareness for the blind and visually impaired community.

Alfred Francis, race director at Running Events Jamaica noted that “we are excited to be hosting the event again this year. This event is for a worthy cause and I am just excited to see Jamaica come out and be a part of a family event that is focused on having fun while doing good.”

“Last year’s staging of the event was beyond extraordinary. We were overwhelmed at the number of blind and visually impaired individuals who came out to participate in the run. This year, we are looking to see those numbers doubled.”

The Everyone’s A Winner/Running Events 5K & 10K will deliver a race package including a 3K Run, 5K Run, 5K Walk, 5K Stroller and 10K Run. Funds raised from the event will be donated to the JSB in aid of establishing a scholarship fund to assist blind and visually impaired individuals with their academic aspirations.

“This year we are introducing a 3K Run to enhance the attractiveness of the event for those who may not be able to complete the 5K and to facilitate the younger members of the family.

Awards will be presented to the overall first, second and third place male and female finishers in the 3K Run, 5K Walk & Run and the 10K. The top three champion teams for the 5K Run and 10K Run will also receive awards.

The largest participating team and the first overall male and female finishers for the 5K Stroller will also be awarded.

Running Events and the JSB encourage participants, spectators, partners, and stakeholders to make donations to the charitable organization whether in person or through their website.

Registration is open to all individuals and teams (corporate, clubs, church groups, and family teams). Registration can be done online at https://www.runningeventsja.com.
