Alia wins breaststroke bronze at Pro Series Meet in California

Standout Jamaican swimmer Alia Atkinson continues her preparation for this summer’s World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea with a season-best performance in the 100-metre breaststroke.

 Competing at the 2019 Clovis Pro Swim Series Meet in Clovis, California on Thursday Atkinson, the 2018 CAC Gold medallist and record holder earned bronze in the event with a time of 1:08.00. The Olympian first 50 metres of 31.82 showed that she is getting sharper as she heads to the global championships.

Atkinson took more than half a second off her previous season-best of 1:08.55.

Canadian Olympian Sydney Pickrem took the gold medal in a new personal best 1:07.20, while Mexican Melissa Rodriquez finished second for the silver medal in a new national record time of 1:07.32.
