$90 million in Derrimon shares traded on Monday
Five million units of Derrimon Trading Limited (DTL) worth about $90 million traded hands on the Jamaica stock Exchange (JSE) on Monday which led declines on the day.
DTL was the volume leader with 40 per cent of total units traded. The sale of shares led declines pushing the stock lower by 25 per cent to $18 .50. The company has been one of the best performing stocks on the JSE this year. The shares traded as low as $7 this year before trading as high as $30 last Friday.
Also on Monday General Accident declined 10.6 per cent on the heels of releasing its financials. While Sagicor X Fund declined 7.2 per cent to $12.83.
Caribbean Flavours and Fragrances led gains on the day up 7.7 per cent to $14 with 36,198 units trading.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 839.85 points (0.26 per cent) to close at 324,466.56.
The JSE Index declined by 671.43 points (0.21 per cent) to close at 315,235.59. The Junior Market Index declined by 20.16 points (0.63 per cent) to close at 3,173.09. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 0.32 points (0.20 per cent) to close at 159.56.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 54 stocks of which 24 advanced, 19 declined and 11 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 12,232,822 units valued at over $183,556,223.39. Derrimon Trading Company Limited was the volume leader with 5,004,435 units (40.91 per cent) followed by Indies Pharma with 1,628,679 units (13.31 per cent) and Lasco Distributors Limited with 1,300,907 units (10.63 per cent) .
