9-year-old child killed as truck crashes into a house in August Town
Police say they have arrested the driver of the truck that crashed into a house and killed a nine year-old girl in the community of August Town.
“He was arrested over the weekend and is to be charged in the next two days,” a police officer from August Town told Loop News.
Reports are that at about 2:20 p.m., on Friday a 2005 blue Mitsubishi Canter motor truck was travelling along Escarpment Road., when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
Sources from August Town said the truck slammed into a house where the child, Geana Leathing and four other persons were staying.
The injured persons were rushed to hospital where Leathing died while undergoing treatment.The other individuals have been admitted in stable condition.
Detectives from August Town say they were now preparing to question the driver in the presence of his attorney.
Police said based on the pace at which their investigation was going they were moving to charge him by Monday.
Police also hinted that multiple charges could be laid against the man, who sources claimed was driving under the influence.
