77-y-o Jamaican/Canadian retiree dies in Clarendon crash

An elderly woman died as a result of injuries she sustained in a crash along the Swansea main road in Clarendon.

She has been identified as 77-year-old Ophneth Ritchie, a retiree of Ontario, Canada and Knockpatrick in Manchester, Jamaica.

Reports from the Four Paths police are that about 10.20 am  on Monday, October 7, Ritchie was among three passengers in a Toyota Rav 4 car that was being driven in an easterly direction.

It is alleged that on reaching a section of the roadway, the driver overtook a line of traffic and ended up colliding with a Toyota Crown motorcar travelling in the opposite direction.

Ritchie and another passenger in the Rav 4 sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital, where Ritchie died while undergoing treatment.

The other injured passenger was treated and released.

Police investigations continue into the fatal collision.
