71-year-old man pleads guilty to stealing items from supermarket

A 71-year-old man who was caught attempting to flee from a supermarket in Junction, St Elizabeth without paying for several items which he had from the establishment, is to be sentenced on October 18 after pleading guilty to simple larceny in court.

The accused, Guy Lennox of Clarendon and St Elizabeth addresses, appeared in the St Elizabeth Parish Court on Thursday.

A social enquiry report and an antecedent were ordered by the presiding parish judge, this while Lennox was remanded in custody.

Allegations are that on Tuesday, October 1, he was seen removing several items from the supermarket.

He was then seen attempting to make a hasty exit from the establishment, and was accosted by a security guard.

The stolen items were reportedly valued at over $5,000.

The police were summoned and Lennox was subsequently arrested and charged.
