50-y-o man shot and injured while 'attempting to stage robbery'

A 50-year-old man was shot and injured by a security guard after he reportedly tried to stage a brazen daylight robbery at a financial institution in Westmoreland on Monday.

Reports are that about 11.05 am, the man who police claim is from the Frome section of the parish went into a business organisation on Great Georges Street.

He allegedly held up and stole approximately $400,000 from a teller at the business organisation, and was trying to make his escape when he was shot and injured by a guard.

He was later handed over to the police and the money retrieved.

Savanna-la-Marr police are investigating.
