$5 million ganja bust in St Ann; second seizure there within days

A police team conducted a snap raid in sections of St Ann, seizing marijuana valued at over $5million and arresting three foreign nationals in the process.

The persons arrested are Bahamians

Reports are that about 10 am on Saturday, a team of officers went to an area in Llandovery and during a search, 50 knitted bags with vegetable matter resembling ganja were found.

The police said the seized drug weighing around 1,000 pounds was found in bushes. Authorities believe the latest find would have placed a dent in the multi-million dollar drug trade locally.

Just days before that bust, a team of police personnel seized 529 pounds of vegetable matter resembling ganja, with an estimated street value of over $2 million.

This was during a snap raid in the Discovery Bay area of St Ann. A man identified as Derrick Martin, an agronomist of Discovery Bay, was taken into custody in relation to that seizure.
