4 guns, including high-powered one, found ‘buried’ in Hanover cemetery

The Hanover police found four firearms and a quantity of ammunition in a cemetery in the parish on Easter Sunday.

Report are that about 1:00 p.m., the police were carrying out a special operation when they swooped down on the Santoy Cemetery in Green Island the parish.

During the raid, the four weapons - three 9mm pistols and an Intratech sub-machine gun - along with 76 rounds of assorted ammunition, were netted.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.

Divisional Commander, Superintendent Sharon Beeput, said with several social events scheduled to take place throughout the parish over the Easter holiday period, the operations were part of plans to ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors alike.

She said an intense investigation is now under way to find suspected persons in relation to the gun find and seizure.
