Sagicor Group Jamaica recently hosted the graduation ceremony for 33 young men and women who participated in the year-long ACTS/CSJP Pre-vocational Programme.

The graduation ceremony, which was held in the auditorium of the company’s head office - the R Danny Williams Building in New Kingston, marked the culmination of a year of dedication, perseverance and determination for the young adults.

During his address to the graduates, President and CEO of Sagicor Group Jamaica, Christopher Zacca, encouraged them to keep focused and not to get deterred by the challenges that may come their way, but to continue to be driven, passionate and determined to succeed despite their circumstances.

“With this achievement under your belt – get ready to take your life to the next level as you continue to set goals, work hard and accomplish your dreams; remain optimistic and keep a positive outlook,” Zacca said.

The graduates also heard words of inspiration and motivation from author and motivational speaker, Krystal Tomlinson; Sagicor’s own Rookie of the Year 2017, Financial Advisor Wendy Wallace; Sagicor Bank CEO, Chorvelle Johnson and Executive Vice President, Sagicor Life Individual Line Division, Mark Chisholm.

Speaking on behalf of his peers, valedictorian for the group, Jermone Simmonds, highlighted the many difficulties he and his colleagues faced throughout their lives but said the group was determined to rise above their circumstances and be a part of something positive and contribute to the society.

“Many of us did not attend school as often as we should have, most of us have seen crime and violence up close and personal, and sometimes some of us even found ourselves on the wrong side of the law.  But we are grateful for this programme as it has changed our lives and we will never forget all who made it happen”, Simmonds said.

He added, “Today, we leave here with a better understanding of our purpose in life. We have the vision for a brighter future, now is the time to work towards our success as our best life is ahead of us.”

Mark Chisholm, Executive Vice President, Sagicor Life Jamaica presents Cheryl Williamson with her certificate of completion for the ACT/CSJP prevocational programme.

The CSJP prevocational programme is an initiative, which falls under the auspices of the Ministry of National Security and is designed to reorient 'at risk' Jamaican youth towards becoming socially fit and productive members of the society.  This specific cohort was managed by ACTS Consultancy, headed by Prominent Transformational Education specialist Dr Michelle Meredith. The programme’s major objectives were to prepare the participants to pursue additional training and certification or enter the world of work.

Earlier in July 2019, Sagicor also hosted the group to an intimate motivational luncheon with members of Sagicor’s executive team.
