24-year-old man held for 'lotto scamming' in St James
Police say they have arrested a 24-year-old man who they believe is a key player in a lotto scamming ring in the parish of St James.
The man has been identified as 24-year-old Dario Davis of York Bush district in Mount Carey in the parish.
Reports are that on Thursday, May 21, personnel from Jamaica Customs and the Area One Lottery Scam Task Force apprehended Davis after he went to a location and conducted a series of suspicious activities including collecting a package containing bank cards.
Further checks were made by the police team and follow-up operations conducted between 11:30 am and 3:00 pm, at two locations in York Bush district in the parish and two cellular phones and information with identity information of persons living overseas were found.
Davis was charged with possession of identity information with intent and possession of access device.
Police said a court date is being finalised for Davis.
