17 homeless after wooden houses destroyed by fire in Mount Salem

Fire of yet undetermined origin, on Monday destroyed three houses in Mount Salem, the community where the first Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) is ongoing.
Arising from the blaze, some 17 people, including children, have been left homeless after the wooden structures in which they lived were completely razed on Crawford Street in the Montego Bay, St James community.
The occupants of the houses, which were close to each other, reportedly awoke because of the heat of the fire at about 4:30 am.
A number of fire units responded to the blaze.
The cause of the fire has still not been determined by the fire department.
