Radio Jamaica (RJR) was the top declining stock on Thursday with a 90 million unit block trade which resulted in the stock dipping 14.4 per cent to $1.60 on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
The trade made RJR the day's volume leader.
Meanwhile, Portland JSX led gains, appreciating by nine per cent to close at $10.90 with 100 units trading hands. Pulse Investments gained 6.5 per cent to close at $8 with 1,000 units trading.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 2,504.14 points ( 1.04 per cent) to close at 238,410.04. The JSE Index declined by 2,442.92 points ( 1.08 per cent) to close at 223,609.72. The Junior Market Index declined by 23.44 points (0.77 per cent) to close at 3,021.54. The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 6.00 points (2.70 per cent) to close at 216.59.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 48 stocks of which 19 advanced, 21 declined and eight traded firm. Market volume amounted to 110,611,903 units valued at over $448,315,406.94.
RJR accounted for 81 per cent ot total units traded on the market. It was followed by AMG Packaging & Paper Company Limited with 10,000,000 units (9.04 per cent) and Lasco Financial Services Limited with 4,019,937 units (3.63 per cent).
