138 Student Living, SSL Venture led gains during Thursday’s trading

138 Student Living (138SL) and SSL Venture Capital Jamaica led gains on Thursday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).

The company, which operates halls of residence on the University of the West Indies, Mona campus - gained 13.7 per cent on the day to close at $3.40 followed by SSL up 11 per cent to close at $1.95.

The top declining stock went to Consolidated Bakeries (Purity) down 13.8 per cent to close at $1.75 and Blue Power down 11.7 per cent to close at $5.30.

The JSE Combined Index declined by 1,042.00 points (0.28 per cent) to close at 375,469.22. The JSE Index declined by 918.47 points (0.25 per cent) to close at 370,989.95.

The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 1,009.17 points (0.25 per cent) to close at 407,175.49. The JSE Select Index declined by 14.94 points (0.16 per cent) to close at 9,433.23.

The JSE Cross Listed Index closed at 100.00. The Junior Market Index declined by 18.02 points (0.57 per cent) to close at 3,156.02. The JSE USD Equities Index closed at 169.42

Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 56 stocks of which 23 advanced, 27 declined and 6 traded firm.

Market volume amounted to 5,904,220 units valued at over $78,498,156.03. JMMB Group Limited 7.50 per cent was the volume leader with 2,001,000 units (33.89 per cent)  followed by Jamaica Broilers Group with 1,531,165 units (25.93 per cent) and Wisynco Group with 589,188 units (9.98 per cent).
