138 Student Living, Eppley led gains during Wednesday's trading
Real estate firm138 Student Living (138SL) and Eppley Limited led gains during trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) on Wednesday.
138SL gained 17 per cent to close at $6.33; Eppley gained 15 per cent and Paramount Trading Jamaica gained 11.8 per cent to close at $1.90.
The top declining stock was Salada Foods down 14 per cent to close at $27.53.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 737.87 points (0.15 per cent) to close at 481,453.65 and the JSE Index declined by 1,256.86 points (0.26 per cent) to close at 488,451.55.
The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 1,388.73 points (0.26 per cent) to close at 536,548.26. The JSE Select Index declined by 35.64 points ( 0.28 per cent) to close at 12,516.84.
Meanwhile, the JSE Cross Listed Index advanced by 0.01 points (0.01 per cent) to close at 90.11. The Junior Market Index advanced by 38.12 points (1.30 per cent) to close at 2,977.15.
The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 0.14 points (0.06 per cent) to close at 230.65. The JSE Financial Index declined by 0.29 points (0.22 per cent) to close at 132.56. The JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index advanced by 0.66 points (0.71 per cent) to close at 93.03.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 78 stocks of which 38 advanced, 28 declined and 12 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 23,979,726 units valued at over $244,136,535.40. Indies Pharma was the volume leader with 4,426,425 units (18.46per cent) followed by Sagicor Select Funds Limited - Financial with 4,113,032 units (17.15per cent) and Lasco Distributors Limited with 2,731,290 units (11.39 per cent).
