$12 million ganja bust in Buff Bay, Portland

A chef was arrested and charged after 42 bags of compressed ganja with a street value of over $12 million were found when cops searched the minibus he was driving.

A team of officers assigned to the Area 2 Narcotics Police team made the discovery in Hart Hill, Buff Bay, Portland on Friday, October 4.

The accused is 49-year-old Cranston White, of Norwich district in the parish.

Reports from the narcotics police are that about 11pm, law enforcers were on operation in the area when they signalled the driver of a Toyota minibus to stop.

White complied and the vehicle was searched and 42 bags of compressed ganja weighing approximately 2,500 pounds were found inside the bus.

The illicit drug has an estimated street value of over $12 million.

A court date for the accused man is to be announced at a later date.
