$1 billion worth of X Fund shares traded hands on Thursday
Nearly $1 billion worth of Sagicor X Fund shares trading hands to lead volumes on Thursday’s trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
Just over 92.5 million units traded in the stock leading the stock higher by 0.19 per cent to close at $10.83. X Fund’s volume accounted for two-thirds of trading activity throughout the entire market on the day.
The identity of the seller and buyer would not be known until later with the disclosures to the top 100 share book or the top 10 shareholders within the quarterly financial reports. X Fund's total outstanding ordinary shares are 2.24 billion units.
On the day, the all but defunct Ciboney led gains up 17 per cent to $0.14. It was followed by AMG Packaging up 11 per cent to close at an even $2.00. Leading declines were 138 Student Living down 12 per cent to $3.66.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 2,497.44 points ( 0.49 per cent) to close at 510,555.24.
The JSE Index advanced by 2,606.47 points ( 0.51 per cent) to close at 514,431.33.
The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 2,913.59 points ( 0.52 per cent) to close at 565,248.82. The Junior Market Index advanced by 9.30 points ( 0.27 per cent) to close at 3,454.00. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 0.41 points ( 0.21 per cent) to close at 197.52. The JSE Financial Index advanced by 1.04 points ( 0.75 per cent) to close at 140.61.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 66 stocks of which 31 advanced, 26 declined and 9 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 136,449,035 units valued at over $1.25 billion with X Fund accounting for 67.7 per cent of volume followed by Wigton Windfarm at 16.4 per cent and Carreras at 3.8 per cent.
